About the event

Using the latest micro:bit technology, this beginners program is the best way to get started on software and hardware technology. The micro:bit is a mini computer chip that can perform a number of tasks once it is programmed and can be coded for additional use.

This entry-level class will teach your child the fundamentals of programming by using block-coding formats. Students will solve problems using algorithms, Boolean logic, randomization, and animation and sound notes. We will cover relevant topics from physical and applied science, including magnetic fields, sound, light, digital and analog circuits. No experience is required as this class is suitable for beginners and first time coders!

A laptop computer is required for this class. Students may bring their own from home or use one provided by the instructor. Please contact our Customer Service Staff at 604-931-2008 to arrange the use of a laptop if needed.

Supplies provided include: -micro:bit The micro: bit is a pocket-sized computer that inspires kids to get creative with software and hardware technology. It has tiny circuits on the back of the computer chip that can be programmed to do fun tasks such as making a game, a calculator, an autonomous car, robot and so much more. It has bright LED display lights, buttons and features that connect to wires for additional components such as speakers to make a musical note or a reaction key. Kids can make multiple projects and reuse the micro:bit as many times as they would like.
